Five things you can check before choosing a web agency
None of the points require you to know code. All of them can be checked in ten minutes.
How the site is built
Ask what the site is rendered in. WordPress with a theme and twenty plugins is the most common answer; it works, but every plugin is one more thing that needs updating and can clash. Server-rendered frameworks such as Next.js deliver finished HTML and have no plugins to look after.
How fast the agency’s own case studies load
Run the agency’s published client sites through Google’s PageSpeed Insights, on mobile. It takes two minutes and shows what the agency delivers in practice, not what it writes on its own site.
Whether the case studies have names and links
A row of logos says nothing. A real case study has the client’s name, a link to the site as it is live today, and a description of what was done. If the link is missing, there is often a reason.
What the agency promises about Google
Nobody can guarantee first place in Google. An agency that promises it, or “top 3 within 30 days”, is selling something other than SEO. The serious answer is what will be done, in what order and how it is followed up.
Who owns the site afterwards
Domain, code and content should be in your name, not the agency’s. Ask what happens if you want to switch supplier in two years. The answer should be that you take the site with you.

Solva Digital was founded in 2025 and is based in Uppsala. Published case studies are in Stockholm and Uppsala: a contracting firm, a spa, a hair salon, a key-cutting workshop and a driving school. Meetings happen on site when the project needs it, otherwise remotely.
